Volunteer with us and use your time, skills and enthusiasm to help more people feel the benefits of therapeutic riding
HOW IT WORKS
If you would like to volunteer at the Drum there are a few things you should know before you get started.
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to one or more days a week - every week - within term time (excluding your own holidays).
You do not need to have previously worked with horses - we have many other jobs around the stables.
Please be aware that volunteering involves a fair amount of walking and leading horses. Other tasks may include tacking up, grooming, cleaning the stables, yard and paddocks.
Training is provided in handling/leading the ponies, side walking during lessons, and supporting our riders. Training days usually take place the week before the start of term.
Good outdoor footwear (no sandals please).
Clothing appropriate for the weather (no vest tops or hoods please).
Gloves for leading horses.
No jewellery or perfume.
The Drum holds annual fundraising events and various dressage events throughout the year.
Volunteers are more than welcome to assist at these events; we really appreciate the extra help.
